El Comino Engine Swap

The El Comino is just one of those cars that you can’t help but fall in love with.  You can haul a tremendous amount of cargo such as race tires and engines.  All the while having the drivability of a high performance car.  Too bad they don’t make them anymore so what is a person going to do?

They come to RSE for an overhaul.  This El Comino was our third one that we updated the entire car to modern specifications and did a full restoration.  

First to go was the V6 motor in favor for a 1995 Corvette LT1 motor.  The motor was tuned to 380 horsepower with the help of a Howell performance chip.  The exhaust was custom 3 inch exhaust was fabricated in house using Random Technology cats and Flow Master mufflers.  To address the breathing needs we custom fabricated a cold air intake and modified the fan shroud for better clearance.  The transmission was converted to a 4L60E overdrive transmission.

The best part with all the changes done to the car is that it is a true daily driver.  Everything works the engine diagnostics, the Air Condition that was updated, and cruise control.  Most notably to the drivability of the car is that it gets 25 miles a gallon.
