There are those that race and those that race to win. At RSE we build cars to win and only race to win. A prime example would be our owner-operator Rick Stark himself. It’s well deserved that Rick is frequently referred to as the “Dean of Northwest Trans-Am series drivers” He began his racing career in 1962 driving a 1959 Corvette roadster. His first year he finished first in the Puget Sound Sports Car Club “A” Production class. That first season simply just set the pace for Rick and the RSE crew and we have never looked back since then. After four and one half successful years with the 59 Corvette roadster, he graduated to a 63 Corvette Stingray coupe and proceeded to log quite an impressive record. By 1968, with 57 amateur races behind him, Rick and his 63 Corvette Stingray coupe finished first in the National Pacific Division; twice held a fifth place in the National Championships and held many first places in the Northwest Regional Championships. In 1970 he placed first in the COWPAC (Canadian-Oregon-Washington-Pacific Amateur Championships). In “B” Production in the North Pacific Division, 1970. Additionally Rick claimed two first places and a third place finish, which enabled him to take tenth overall in the American Road Race of Champions. Throughout the 40 plus years of racing from 1962 till today the RSE crew has constantly been evolving to remain competitive. Recently as a notable mention anyone can find photos of one of our race cars in the December 2007 Corvette Fever Magazine page 55 as always we are in-front of the pack. Also in the October 2007 Edition of Victory Lane page 33 you will find that we still got it as we lead the pack and take home the win for the weekend on both days. Who said that building a race car on a budget was impossible. We here at RSE are living proof that with enough experience and skill anything is possible.
